We are looking for individuals that have worked in the outfitting industry before, preferably in a backcountry setting. We are looking for individuals with extensive horsemanship experience, packing experience, customer service skills who have a strong work ethic and a passion for the outdoors which they enjoy sharing with their guests. Experience fly-fishing or fishing guiding is preferred as that is the focus of our summer trips. The individual must have WFA certification and on the job experience leading or assisting on roving or stationary pack trips on horseback. Start and end dates will vary depending on position but will start roughly June 15th-Sept 15th and possibly longer depending on performance. If individuals have experience as hunting guides they will potentially have the opportunity to stay on payroll through Nov 30th. Salary will depend on experience but will start at $2,000 per month with room and board included and the opportunity for tips. Salmon Forks Outfitters is hiring a backcountry manager for the 2021 season. Salmon Forks Outfitters operates fishing trips, roving trips, backcountry hunts, and drop camps in the Bob Marshall Wilderness out of Meadow Creek Trailhead. We are looking for a seasoned veteran that has worked in the backcountry in horseback-based outfitting operations in the past. The backcountry manager is responsible for 4-7 staff and 4-8 guests at a time. Functioning as a wilderness trip leader, this individual must be physically able to to spend up to 10 days riding, hiking, and camping in a wilderness setting. They must have excellent customer service and communication skills to ensure client and staff satisfaction and safety. The backcountry manager must also have good logistics to plan and prepare for trips. They will work closely with the trailhead manager, purchasing manager, and general manager to stockpile hay and other food and supplies. The individual must have extensive skills in horsemanship, packing, fishing, hunting guiding, customer service, logistics and management. Room and board is included in the pay. The start and end dates will run roughly from June 25th -Oct. 31st. Salary will depend on experience and work load but would start at $3500 per month. Packers can expect to work out of the Meadow Creek Trailhead and work inside The Bob Marshall Wilderness. Packers can expect to work long hours, 6 days a week and sometimes more. Room and board is included in the job and prior experience is required. Packers are required to care for stock including feeding, watering and doctoring as well as cleaning, adjusting, and maintaining equipment and saddles.
